Safety Superintendent - Mining

Our Client -  Reputable Mining & Civil Contractor
 
Our client is experiencing rapid growth within the business and as a result are seeking a driven and motivated Safety Superintendent to lead and mentor a team of advisers and provide a safe working environment for a workforce of approximately 80 personnel.

Responsibilities of the role;

  • Provide effective leadership, coaching and mentoring to the HSE team.
  • Operational accountabilities include: management of safety, health, environment and emergency services onsite.
  • Ownership of all site HSE systems including, their review and ongoing improvement.
  • Conduct required risk assessments and formulate and implement appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Oversee, enhance and monitor the Workers Compensation process, to meet all corporate requirements and legal compliance against the requirements of the Workers Compensation and Injury Management Act 1981.
  • Monitor all safety incidents to ensure timely completion of investigations, appropriate follow through on corrective actions, and identification of trends, whilst also ensuring that the Occupational Health and safety act (OH&S) and Mines Safety & Inspection Act (MSIA) and Regulations is complied with at all times.
 To be successful in and process:
  • Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3-5 years experience working in a similar mining industry role.
  • A comprehensive understanding of Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) legislation and the Mines Safety & Inspection Act and Regulations.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills.
  • Strong commitment to creating a continuous improvement culture.
  • Strong computer literacy, particularly in relation to Microsoft Excel, Work and Powerpoint.
