Software Engineer - Perl/Linux

A rare and interesting role with an exciting technology focused company.  The Support Engineer's role is to be the first point of contact for customer enquiries and technical issues.    It will involve working with Perl software and Linux administration.

Our client offers a suite of cutting edge software applications to their customers where each system is tailored to meet the specific needs of that customer.

The position will be the primary customer support contact.  The successful candidate will need to work independently and take full responsibility for ensuring his her tasks are completed on time and to a high quality standard. 

Tasks could include; Linux installation, configuration, documentation and Perl software bug fixing, as well as any other tasks related towards providing excellent technical support to our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshooting of customers' problems
  • Answering phone calls and emails
  • Responding to tickets from your assigned customers
  • System administration.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and fault resolution

Essential skills/experience/qualifications:

  • Excellent Communication - both written and verbal

Tertiary qualified

  • 2 - 3 years software engineering experience - Perl
  • 2 - 3 years Linux Apache Admin Networking
  • Database experience in Oracle DB2 MYSQL PostgreSQL would be useful
  • Experience in hierarchical storage management software such as TSM would also be an advantage
